Pinocchio
Geppetto, a poor woodcarver in 19th-century rural Tuscany, carves a marionette from a piece of pine that turns out to be alive. The little wooden boy, Pinocchio, has a kind heart but a wild streak — he runs from school, chooses bad company, lies (his nose growing with each one), and gets into and out of trouble across the Tuscan countryside. Through hardship — including a long passage in the belly of a great fish where he finds Geppetto and helps them both escape — Pinocchio learns to be honest, kind, hardworking, and loving. The Blue Fairy, who has watched over him from the start, finally grants his greatest wish: to be a real boy.
